¡Que sí te lo digo! was composed in 1986 for a pair of Venezuelan flutists who asked the composer for a piece they could premiere together on a recital entitled Music of Our Friends. Imagining a healthy professional rivalry between them, Teruel wrote a work in which the two piccolos constantly answer and challenge one another, as if in a playful duel.

At the request of the soloists, the premiere included improvised congas, giving the performance an extra popular flavor and great success with the audience. Years later the piece received a “second chance” in its original form, without percussion, again to enthusiastic response. Since then it has become a favorite duet among Venezuelan flutists and students of the Latin-American Academy of Flute.

En septiembre de 1986 dos extraordinarios flautistas venezolanos pidieron una obra que pudieran estrenar juntos en un recital titulado Música de Nuestros Amigos. El compositor intuía una sana rivalidad profesional entre ellos y decidió escribir una pieza donde uno pareciera retar al otro en un juego permanente de preguntas y respuestas, sin perder nunca el humor.

Para el estreno, a sugerencia de los intérpretes, se añadieron unas congas improvisadas. El resultado fue tan exitoso que ellos mismos dijeron que, si funcionaba, el crédito era todo suyo y si no, el compositor no tenía nada que ver. Años más tarde la obra se presentó de nuevo en su versión original, sin percusión, con igual entusiasmo del público. Javier y Enver la han incorporado al repertorio de la Academia Latinoamericana de Flauta y jóvenes flautistas continúan haciéndola suya en festivales y conciertos.
